The rumors of my demise have been sorely exaggerated

It’s been a while, everyone.

The past couple of years has been full of adventure, and I wanted to take this opportunity to reconnect and fill you in.

  1. On December 2017 I had what the doctors referred to as a massive heart attack-- I don’t really see it that way. My heart wasn’t attacking me, it was a heart adventure. I had two stents put in and through it all, the doctor was surprised that I was so calm and not experiencing the pain that patients normally did when they experienced the same type of heart attack. Through this heart adventure, I hadn't passed out and kept commenting on how calm I was.
  2. In May 2018 I hosted Imagination IQ in Denver Colorado and announced my new project: a choose-your-own-adventure style documentary called Imagine The Good Life.
  3. In October 2018 was another health adventure. I woke up at 4 am to prop myself up on my left side. My arm gave out and BOOM! rolled right into the floor. I tried to get up, and I couldn't use my left arm at all. I also had super slurred speech. Within an hour, I couldn't walk because my left leg was not working. After the heart adventure, the doctors think a clot from the bottom of my heart might have traveled to the right side of my brain and caused my stroke. They aren’t 100% sure, but that’s their best guess. I was in intense rehab for one month. It took me three weeks to take steps on my own power. By the sixth week, I was jumping on a plane to Chicago for a video shoot. Now, eight months after the stroke, I can think straight, talk clearly, walk on my own (still getting better) and I have partial use of my left arm and hand. I have traveled to 6 other states to film segments for my Imagine The Good Life documentary.

Every day has its challenges and pain, physical and emotional, but I'm still here, so I have more to do. I’m getting better and stronger every day!

I  even bought a new T-shirt for my Birthday to remind me, and everyone else that it will take a lot more than a heart attack and stroke to take me out of commission…

So that’s what I’ve been up to and why I’ve been a little quiet these days. But I’m back and glad to reconnect with you.

Be blessed and be a blessing,

Dan Fowler - The Imagination Engineer
